Today we visited the Ivanhoe crossing. As you can see by the photos, we could not cross it. If there is any possible inkling of doubt about whether there is enough water up here to make the Kimberlies a food source for Australia, this is a small river compared to many others up here. Check out the vid below to get an idea of the ammt of water heading downstream.
We also worked on the car. Two issues surfaced - the clutch in the fan is not working so the fan did not pull through enough air at low speeds and at high revs, and the thermostat was jammed open which caused the water to flow too fast for the radiator to cool it. For now, we have drilled through the sealed clutch unit and put a bolt through to keep the fan on all the time whilst we wait for a new clutch to be delivered late next week. All in all, a good result. The car now runs super cool in all weather and we can finally use the air con to turn the inside into a fridge.
